The fact that I'm playing a bit with Jack's and Naomi's relationship on this and the next page is mostly due to the fact that some readers commented on earlier pages as if there were some sort of romantic interest between the two. In my mind they're still "just" friends, but the fact that it could be different (which, as I always replied, I never even considered) led to this dialogue.
